Client: Target 2019
Target wanted to create awareness around their exclusive Star Wars merchandise in the media-saturated leadup to The Rise of Skywalker. The challenge was reaching multiple generations of the most diverse fan community anywhere. We wanted to create entertainment instead of adding to the noise so we recreated the most significant trailer with actual Star Wars toys from Target. This trailer includes all three trilogies, appealing to every generation of fan. Our film begins with puppeteered vintage toys and a DIY aesthetic that embraces the original trilogy’s practical effects and the nostalgia of playing with those early Star Wars action figures. The aesthetic evolves to match that of the different trilogies. When we reach the teasers for The Rise of Skywalker, we’re fully immersed in exciting practical effects. We set out to excite every generation of Star Wars fan. All it took was some toys and a little magic.
